It's lovely to make a New Year's Resolution to lose weight and wanting to do so by using Insanity, but if you are only willing to work out a few times a week or for 15 minutes a day, you are setting yourself up to fail.

2. Time

How much time are you able to commit to a workout each day and each week? Let's be real...most of us do not have 3 hours each day to do a workout. So, how much time are you able and willing to invest in yourself?

3. Commitment

Once you've completed the first two steps, ask yourself: How long of a commitment am I willing to make? Sure, we all go into this process expecting our life to change and ultimately, that is the goal. However, when you first start working out, a long term goal is tough to keep the motivation going. It may seem like something that is so far out of reach. What I've found works best for me, whenever I make any lifestyle change decision, is to commit to TWO WEEKS. So, I've figured goals and the amount of time I am able to put forth, now I commit to give it my all for two weeks to see if I can do it the right way

4. Accountability

Only YOU can keep yourself accountable. If you decided that you will work out 5 times per week for 30 minutes each of those days, it is your responsibility that you do it. So, if you miss a workout...it's ok! Just make sure that you either get it done later in the day, on another day, or do two workouts in one day!

5. Progress

If you are anything like me, you need to see results! Be sure to document the process from day one. Don't limit yourself to just weighing yourself - your weight will fluctuate throughout your journey. Take pictures and measure yourself. That way, if you hit a weight loss plateu, you have other ways of seeing progress.

6. Connect

Connect with other like-minded people! Going through a lifestyle change will take a toll at some point and sometimes your loved ones will not be able to relate. Connect using the Team Beachbody Community, Facebook, Instagram or even check out a meetup!

7. Press play

Just press play. No workout is a "BAD" workout as long as you press play!

Thank you for reading and feel free to connect with me for support, advice, or just a high five!

Instagram/Twitter: @booyakazam
